Running a competitive LAN event is a production challenge as much as a gaming one. Players need consistent conditions, the cast needs to look and sound right on camera, and everything has to hold up across a full broadcast day.
Anaaja's RESET LAN at the Xperion in Cologne brought 32 players and 85 spectators together for a Call of Duty: Warzone tournament played out entirely on-site.
Elgato devices was deployed across every competitor station. Key Light kept players consistently lit throughout the broadcast. Facecam Pro was mounted at each station, giving the stream a direct view of competitors during play. Wave XLR and Wave DX handled audio at the stations, and Stream Deck + gave players and production hands-on control without breaking focus.
For Xperion, equipping competitors with professional gear is central to what the venue is trying to build. "In our LAN area, you can also buy the products that are being used," says Nils Wenslau, Project Lead at Xperion. "This creates an interactive storefront for our customers: watch, try, buy."
The venue also has a longer-term goal in mind. "You probably remember the old days of trying to hook up a few PCs at a friend's place for a small LAN, everything chaotic, everything cramped, but tons of fun," says Wenslau. "That's exactly the feeling we want to recreate, just with more space and better equipment."
For Anaaja, pulling it off was the result of years of trying. "It's been tried many times before and it never really worked out," she says. "But that makes me all the happier that we managed to pull it off."
From Elgato's side, the result spoke for itself. "Getting to look into a beautifully branded room perfectly tailored to the event's visual identity and seeing a sea of Key Lights alongside countless other products is incredible," says Amaya Straeten, Head of Partnerships EU at Elgato.
