Best Elgato Webcams for Meetings

Last updated:

A laptop camera was never built for the calls that matter. The angle is wrong, the image is soft, and in any kind of low light, you end up looking like a shadow. A dedicated webcam fixes all of that.

Elgato makes three webcams that work well for meetings. This guide compares them and helps you decide which one fits your setup.

What to look for in a webcam for meetings

A few things matter more than spec sheets when you're picking a webcam for calls:

  • Resolution and frame rate. 1080p60 is the floor for clean, smooth video. 4K gets you sharper detail but most meeting apps cap at 1080p anyway.
  • Lighting. No webcam, including a 4K one, can fully compensate for a poorly lit setup. A small light at face level like Key Light Neo makes more difference than a sensor upgrade.
  • Privacy shutter. A physical cover is the only way to be sure your camera isn't running. Built-in shutters are easier to use day to day.
  • Plug-and-play compatibility. A good meeting webcam should show up in Zoom, Teams, Google Meet, and Slack without drivers or extra setup.

The Elgato webcam lineup

Facecam Neo is the entry point. Plug-and-play 1080p60 with autofocus, HDR, and a built-in privacy shutter. Zoom-certified and ready to go straight out of the box. With a Key Light or similar lighting setup, it holds its own for most professional meeting needs.

Facecam Neo 1

Facecam MK.2 is the pro-grade pick. Uncompressed 1080p60 through a Sony STARVIS sensor delivers a cleaner, more detailed image, and Camera Hub gives you full DSLR-style control over ISO, shutter speed, and white balance. The built-in privacy shutter slides across the lens with a swipe.

Facecam 4K is the top of the lineup. Uncompressed 4K60 through a large 1/1.8" Sony STARVIS 2 sensor, with 49mm lens filter support for cinematic effects. The privacy cover is sold separately. Best if your setup spans meetings and content production.

Which one is right for you?

  • Daily meetings, no fuss: Facecam Neo
  • Pro-quality calls: Facecam MK.2
  • Highest possible image quality across calls and content: Facecam 4K

If you're not sure, Facecam MK.2 is the most versatile pick for most people on calls. The image quality is a clear step up from a built-in laptop camera, and the built-in privacy shutter is practical for work.

Want the all-in-one option for video calls?
