How to Use Wave Go with Wave Link

Last updated:

Wave Go works as a computer mic as soon as you plug in the receiver. In Wave Link, what you hear in your headphones can be different from what your stream or call hears.
You can also turn on Voice Focus, an AI effect that removes background noise and room echo while keeping your voice natural.

What is Wave Link

Wave Link is our free audio software for Windows and macOS that works with any microphone.

It lets you build up to five separate mixes, so what you hear in your headphones can be different from what your stream or call hears. Every audio source in Wave Link, such as your mic, games, or music, can be its own channel, where you can adjust volume individually or where you can adjust its volume or add effects. .

What you need

  • Wave Go
  • Windows 11 or macOS 15.0 or newer
  • Wave Link 3.4 or newer
  • Wave Go app for iOS or Android

Step 1: Download and install Wave Link

  1. Go to elgato.com/downloads and download Wave Link.
  2. Open Wave Link and when prompted, install the Wave Link Audio Driver.
  3. On macOS, allow microphone and system audio access in System Settings when asked.

Step 2: Connect Wave Go to your computer

  1. Plug the Wave Go receiver into a USB-C port on your computer.
  2. Power on the transmitter.
  3. Wave Go will be automatically detected within Wave Link in the sidebar under Elgato devices.

Step 3: Adjust Wave Go settings

Wave Go’s gain and noise cancellation are set in the Wave Go app on your phone, not in Wave Link. The app connects to the receiver over Bluetooth, so you can change these settings while the receiver is plugged into your computer.

In Wave Link, the Device tab shows a level meter and a Mute control. You can also mute by pressing the transmitter button once.

Step 4: Make your first mix

Wave Link sends each input to one or up to 5 mixes.

  1. If Wave Go isn’t already listed as an input, click Create Channel and select Wave Go.
  2. Click + to the right of your mixes and add Personal Mix and Stream Mix.
  3. Click + where the Wave Go row meets each mix column to add your mic to both mixes.
  4. Select Personal Mix and choose your headphones as its output.
  5. Hover over Personal Mix and click [listen icon] to hear it.
  6. In OBS, Discord, Zoom, or any other app, select Elgato Wave Link Stream Mix or Chat Mix as your microphone.

Optinoal: Turn on Voice Focus

Voice Focus is an audio effect that removes background noise and room echo from your mic while keeping your voice sounding natural. It’s included with Wave Go in Wave Link.

  1. In Wave Link, select Wave Go in the sidebar.
  2. Open the Effects tab and turn on Voice Focus.
  3. Use the slider to set how much it applies.
  4. Turn off Wave Go’s built-in noise cancellation by pressing the button on the receiver. The receiver light stops showing green when it’s off. You can also switch it off in the Wave Go app.

Voice Focus only works on Wave Go when your mic goes through a Wave Link mix. In your call or streaming app, select a mix like Chat Mix as your microphone, not Wave Go.

Note: Turn off Wave Go’s built-in noise cancellation when using Voice Focus. You can switch it off with the button on the receiver or in your phone’s Wave Go app.

Tips for using Wave Go with Wave Link

  • Turn off Windows audio processing. Windows can add its own effects on top of Wave Link. Go to Settings > System > Sound, select Wave Go under Input, open Properties, and turn off Audio enhancements and Voice Clarity.
  • Two transmitters show up as one input. If you’re using a second transmitter, both mics are combined into a single Wave Go input in Wave Link.
  • Control your mix from Stream Deck. With Stream Deck and the Wave Link plugin, you can adjust volume and mute channels with a tap.
  • Fix double audio. If you hear your voice twice, it’s usually a routing overlap. See fixing double audio in Wave Link.

Once your mixes are set, you can shape your sound further with plugins from Elgato Marketplace. Learn how in installing audio effects from Marketplace.
