Elgato Studio 2.0 — The Prompter Experience, Rebuilt

Last updated:

We've read your feedback, listened to how you use Prompter in the field, and used it ourselves to produce everything from YouTube videos to Shorts and live streams. We’re excited to introduce the next version of Elgato Studio, bringing an entirely new software experience for Prompter. Inside you’ll find a new script editor, a new Voice Sync engine, and studio operator view, all designed around your creative workflow.

Whether you're recording video content, presenting on camera, or reading from a script on set, this is prompting, elevated.

Voice Sync 2.0

Voice Sync scrolls your script as you speak, so you can focus on your delivery instead of managing playback. We rebuilt it with a new speech recognition engine which brings support for AMD and Intel, alongside NVIDIA GPUs. It's faster, more accurate, and built to stay with you from the first line to the last.

A new sensitivity slider lets you control how closely Voice Sync follows your speech, so it works whether you read word for word or tend to go off-script. Supported language is English, with more on the way.

Your Scripts, Untethered

In Camera Hub, writing or editing a script required Prompter to be physically connected to your computer. If your hardware wasn't set up, your scripts were locked away.

That's gone. The new script editor in Elgato Studio 2.0 is always available, whether Prompter is connected or not. Write and prep between shoots, organize your scripts ahead of time, or start working before your Prompter is even out of the box.

Headings, lists, formatting, and drag-and-drop block editing are all built into the new editor. Writing and organizing scripts is more powerful now, and will feel familiar if you've used tools like Google Docs, Word, or Notion.

Pasting text also keeps your formatting more reliably. If you were using Camera Hub previously you don’t have to worry about your text being one giant chapter anymore. We’re leaving this concept behind.

Script Editor

We know you work in other apps, so we improved the importing too. Bring in scripts from Word, Markdown, or plain text files. And if you’re coming from Camera Hub, a dedicated import option brings your existing scripts over in one step.

Present Your Way

Read-text highlighting dims what you've already read so you always know where you are. A reading position slider lets you choose where your current line sits on screen. Fonts, sizing, spacing, margins, and colors are all adjustable to match your Prompter setup and reading distance.

New in Elgato Studio 2.0 is an optional Prompter overlay that shows your script progress and overall session time

Studio Ready

With Prompter and Prompter XL being used in studio and production environments, we heard the need for an operator or producer to see what’s on Prompter. With Elgato Studio 2.0, the Prompter view shows exactly whats happening and what the talent sees, one to one.

Looking ahead

This is just the first beta, and while its packed with features, we’ve got more in the pipeline. Chat integration for Twitch and YouTube, multi-platform combined chat, and Voice Sync in German. Audio input selection is coming too, so you can choose the audio source for your recordings, such as a Wave Link mix.

Try it today

We want to ensure a great experience for everyone when Elgato Studio 2.0 launches, so we're introducing this public beta. The beta is available now on Windows, with macOS coming soon.

We’ll be listening and engaging with your comments and feedback during the beta and beyond. Share your thoughts in our beta megathread on Reddit.
