Key Light Air MK.2: What You Need to Know

Last updated:

If your desk is where you stream, record, or take calls, lighting makes a visible difference. Good lights help your camera capture a cleaner image, keep your face evenly lit, and make your setup look more intentional without needing a full studio.

Key Light Air MK.2 is a mid-sized LED panel built for that kind of desk setup. It gives you soft, adjustable light, a clamp-on stand, USB-C power, touch controls, and flexible control options from the light itself, Control Center, or Stream Deck.

What is Key Light Air MK.2?

Key Light Air MK.2 is a 15-inch LED panel for improving how you look on camera at your desk. It sits between Key Light Neo and Key Light in Elgato’s lighting lineup: larger and more flexible than a compact light, but smaller and easier to fit into a desk setup than a larger panel.

It delivers up to 2100 lumens of soft, edge-lit illumination, with adjustable color temperature from 2900 to 7000 K.

It also includes a desk mount with a clamp, so you can position your light above or beside your monitor without taking up desk surface space.

Features

USB-C power for different setups

Key Light Air MK.2 is powered by USB-C. For everyday desk use, you can connect it directly to your computer and get enough brightness for most setups.

For full 2100-lumen output, connect a PD-compatible adapter or battery bank rated 30 W or higher. Brightness scales with available power, so a stronger power source unlocks more output.

Important: P30 Power Supply is sold separately. When buying from elgato.com, it is free at checkout, but it is not included in the box and is not available through other retailers.

Wi-Fi control, plus backup options when you need them

Key Light Air MK.2 is built for Wi-Fi control. Open Control Center on desktop or mobile and adjust brightness and color temperature from anywhere on your network, without touching the light.

When Wi-Fi isn't available, you're not stuck. Built-in touch controls let you adjust brightness and color temperature directly on the light, and you can save two presets to recall from the front panel.

Control Center also works over USB-C when Wi-Fi is unavailable, unreliable, or locked down. Stream Deck integration lets you adjust brightness and color temperature without leaving your workflow.

Between Wi-Fi, USB-C, touch controls, and Stream Deck, you have a practical option no matter how your setup is configured.

A clamp-on stand for desk setups

Key Light Air MK.2 includes a pole mount with a clamp, so the light can go over your monitor without using the surface area in front of you.

The clamp attaches to most desks up to 6 cm thick. The telescopic pole helps place the light around eye level, while the ball mount lets you tilt and rotate the panel toward your face. Numbered height markings also make it easier to return to the same position each session.

The light has three 1/4-inch threads for standard mounting systems like Multi Mount. That gives you more options if your desk setup changes over time or you already use camera-style mounting gear.

MagSafe support for moving between setups

Key Light Air MK.2 has a MagSafe-compatible ring on the back, which lets it attach to compatible holders and battery banks.

This is useful if you want to move your light between your main desk and another filming spot. Snap it onto a compatible holder, connect it to power via USB-C, and you can use it in more places around your home.

For mobile or cable-free setups, pair it with a PD-compatible battery bank.

Note: MagSafe handles mounting only, and it does not transfer power. You'll still need to connect your battery bank to the light via USB-C.

Focus Grid Accessory

Focus Grid for Key Light Air MK.2 is an optional magnetic accessory that narrows the light beam.

Use it when you want more control over where the light lands. It can help reduce spill, keep the background darker, or create a more dramatic look for portraits and product shots.

Focus Grid is sold separately.

Who should choose Key Light Air MK.2?

Key Light Air MK.2 is a good fit if your desk is your main camera setup and you want more flexibility than a small light can provide.

Choose Key Light Air MK.2 if you want:

  • A mid-sized light for streaming, recording, or video calls
  • More brightness and coverage than a compact desk light
  • A clamp-on stand that saves desk space
  • Built-in touch controls
  • USB-C power and USB-C control
  • Stream Deck and Control Center support
  • MagSafe mounting options
  • A light that can move between setups

Choose Key Light Neo if you need the smallest, simplest option for close-range lighting. Choose Key Light if you need more output and a larger panel for a bigger setup.
