Before connecting your PS5 to a capture card, you’ll need to disable HDCP—a copy protection feature that blocks video capture.
⚠️ Important: To disable HDCP, your PS5 must be connected directly to a TV or monitor, not through a capture card.
Once HDCP is off, you’re ready to connect to Game Capture 4K S.
Want to go live? Here’s how to stream your PlayStation 5 gameplay using OBS Studio:
With 4K S’s ultra-low latency, HDR10, and VRR passthrough, your PS5 gameplay will look and feel just as good on stream as it does in your hands.
On PlayStation 5, capturing audio works out of the box through HDMI. But things change once you connect an analog headset to your controller, especially when using party chat. PS5 will reroute all audio (game and voice) to your controller, meaning your capture card will no longer receive sound.
There are two main ways around this. The simplest is to plug your headset into your computer and monitor game audio via Elgato Studio or OBS Studio preview. This keeps everything in sync and preserves full-quality HDMI audio in your recording. For full party chat capture—including your own mic—we recommend using Elgato Chat Link Pro, an audio adapter designed specifically to solve this PS5 issue. Learn more about Chat Link Pro here.
