Virtual Stream Deck: What it is and how to use it

Virtual Stream Deck (VSD) brings the full Stream Deck experience into a software-based panel you can place directly on your display. It’s great for streaming, editing, meetings, or everyday shortcuts. Once unlocked with a supported device, you can keep it visible or summon it only when you need it.

To use Virtual Stream Deck, update to Stream Deck 7.0 or later. Then:

1. Connect a supported device to unlock VSD. This includes:

• Any Stream Deck model (Scissor Keys, MK.2, XL, +, Neo, Pedal, etc.)
• Corsair SCIMITAR ELITE WIRELESS SE
• Xeneon Edge display (coming soon)

2. In the Stream Deck app, click the dropdown menu in the top left.

3. Select Add Virtual Device from the device list.

Note: A supported device must be connected at least once within the past 30 days to continue using VSD.

• 8×8 layout: Up to 64 keys per panel
• Docked or dynamic display: Place it anywhere on screen, or summon it at your mouse cursor with a hotkey
• Multiple panels: Run several at once, each with its own layout and hotkey
  Custom icons and profiles: Use folders, Multi Actions, Smart Profiles, and personalized visuals
• Elgato Marketplace support: Access plugins, icon packs, and pre-made profiles
• Stream Deck software support: Use the same actions, profiles, Multi Actions, and folders as you would with a physical Stream Deck

Once enabled in Stream Deck 7.0 or later, Virtual Stream Deck appears as an interactive overlay on your desktop. You can position it wherever works best for your workflow, or summon it on demand.

You can use VSD in two ways:

• Docked mode: Place it anywhere on your screen, or snap it to the edge so it stays visible
• Dynamic mode: Launch each Virtual Stream Deck with its own hotkey, appearing at your mouse cursor
  

Each Virtual Stream Deck supports up to an 8×8 grid, giving you as many as 64 virtual keys per panel. You can also create multiple VSDs, each with its layout and profile, which are ideal for managing different games, tasks, or apps side by side.

Virtual Stream Deck fits naturally into your workflow, whether pairing it with a physical Stream Deck or using it independently.

• Streaming: Trigger scenes, overlays, and audio controls
• Meetings: Mute your mic, launch slides, or toggle your camera
• Creative work: Tap into tools in Photoshop, Final Cut, or Resolve
• Gaming: Fire off macros, sound effects, or chat actions on the fly

Display

• Choose between Fixed or Dynamic mode
• Assign a hotkey to toggle visibility
• Enable auto-hide when the cursor leaves the panel or after an action is triggered
  

Layout

• Set the number of rows and columns (up to 8×8)
• Toggle Hide empty keys for a cleaner look
  

Appearance

• Adjust key size and panel opacity
• Choose a frame color to match your setup

• Software: Stream Deck 7.0 or later
• Unlock: Requires a supported Stream Deck or Corsair device
