How To

Control Key Light Air MK.2 with Onboard Controls

Last updated:

Key Light Air MK.2 has built-in touch controls on the front panel and a power button on the frame. You can adjust brightness, change color temperature, and save two presets without opening an app or connecting to Wi-Fi.

This guide covers every onboard control on the device.

Power button

The power button is on the bottom edge of the frame, toward the right side when you are facing the front of the light.

Press the button once to turn the light on. Press and hold to turn it off.

Note: The power button does not disconnect power from the device. When Key Light Air MK.2 is turned off this way, it can still be controlled through Control Center or Stream Deck.

Adjusting brightness

On the front panel, you will find four touch buttons. The two outer buttons, marked – and +, control brightness by default.

Tap – to lower brightness. Tap + to raise it. Key Light Air MK.2 adjusts across its full brightness range, and the output you see depends on how much power your USB-C source provides. A typical computer port delivers enough light for most desk setups, while a source rated 30 W or higher unlocks the full 2100 lumens.

Switching to color temperature

The same – and + buttons also control color temperature. To switch modes, press – and + at the same time.

Once you switch, – shifts the light warmer (toward 2900 K) and + shifts it cooler (toward 7000 K). Press both buttons together again to return to brightness control.

There is no indicator on the light showing which mode is active, so if you are unsure, press – or + once and check whether the brightness or color temperature changes. Press both together to toggle back.

Saving and recalling presets

The two remaining buttons on the front panel are marked with one dot and two dots. These are Fav 1 and Fav 2.

To save a preset:

  1. Adjust brightness and color temperature to the look you want.
  2. Press and hold Fav 1 or Fav 2 for three seconds.

The current brightness and color temperature are now saved to that button.

To recall a preset, tap the button once. The saved look loads instantly.

When your current settings match a saved preset exactly, that Fav button lights up. A quick glance tells you which preset is active.

A practical starting point: save a bright, neutral setting on Fav 1 for daytime use, and a warmer, dimmer setting on Fav 2 for evening sessions. You can overwrite either preset at any time by holding the button again.

More ways to control your light

Onboard controls cover everyday adjustments, but Key Light Air MK.2 also works with Control Center over USB-C or Wi-Fi, and with any Stream Deck through the Control Center plugin on Elgato Marketplace.
