Elgato Voice Focus is an AI-powered audio effect designed to make your voice sound clear and professional in any environment. It was built in partnership with ai-coustics, an audio AI company whose models restore missing vocal frequencies and strip out background noise, rather than just muting everything below a volume threshold. Originally available only with Wave microphones and Wave Link, Voice Focus is now available as a VST3 plugin for Windows and an AU plugin for macOS. That means you can use it with any microphone, in nearly any app that hosts VST3 or AU effects, including streaming software, video editors, and DAWs.
Hear the difference Voice Focus makes on a real voice, noise and reverb removed while the vocal still sounds natural.
No. Voice Focus comes free with Wave Link on these devices:
Open your Wave Input channel in Wave Link, toggle Voice Focus on, and adjust the slider. No Marketplace purchase needed, and this isn't limited to the MK.2 generation: the original Wave:3, Wave XLR, and XLR Dock work too.
Using Wave DX or another XLR microphone? Connect it through Wave XLR MK.2 or XLR Dock MK.2 to unlock the same free access.
The standalone VST3/AU plugin covered in this article is for using Voice Focus somewhere Wave Link doesn't reach: directly inside a DAW, a video editor, or a track in OBS Studio that isn't already routed through Wave Link. It's a one-time purchase of $49.99 USD on Elgato Marketplace, with a lifetime license.
Voice Focus removes background noise, room reverb, and echo, while preserving vocal warmth and detail. Rather than just filtering out everything below a volume threshold, the ai-coustics models behind it reconstruct missing vocal frequencies, so your voice keeps its natural texture instead of sounding processed. Adjust how much it applies with a single slider, from a light touch to full processing.
Yes. Voice Focus processes audio entirely on your device in real time. Nothing is sent to the cloud, recorded, or used to train models.
Streaming and recording
If you are streaming or recording, Voice Focus can help keep your voice crystal clear. In Wave Link, just add it to your microphone channel and it will handle background noise for you. Prefer OBS Studio? You can load the standalone Voice Focus plugin on a track there as well, so your audience always hears you clearly no matter what is going on around you.
Video meetings
Clean up your own voice before it reaches Zoom, Teams, or Slack, so background noise gets filtered out before anyone else hears it. Wave Link handles the routing (see the FAQ below for the exact steps).
Video editing
Working in Adobe Premiere, DaVinci Resolve, or Final Cut Pro? Voice Focus can help smooth out room tone, quiet a faint electrical hum, or cut down background noise. Just drop it on your track like any other effect.
Music and podcasting
Use Voice Focus in Logic, Pro Tools, FL Studio, or Audacity for clean vocals. Apply it in real-time or across full voice tracks in post-production.
1. Purchase from Elgato Marketplace
2. Copy your license key
3. Place the plugin file:
4. Rescan for new effects in your software
5. Add Voice Focus to your mic or track. The first time you load it, you’ll be asked to enter your license key.
Your license appears automatically after purchase and can always be found in your Products Library on Marketplace.
Note: Each license can only be activated three times in total. If you reach the activation limit, please contact our support team for assistance.
Does Voice Focus work inside Zoom, Teams, or Slack?
Not directly. Those apps don't host VST3 or AU plugins. Instead, turn Voice Focus on for your mic channel in Wave Link, then create a mix that includes that channel and select the mix as your microphone input in your call software.
Can Voice Focus clean up other people's audio on a call?
No. Voice Focus only processes your own microphone signal, not incoming audio from other participants.
With Voice Focus, your voice sounds incredible whether you are streaming from home, recording a podcast, editing a vlog in post, or joining a meeting in a noisy cafe.
