STORY

THE WAVE JOURNEY

Back in 2020, Wave started as a fix to an outdated system. Now, it’s an audio ecosystem powering creators worldwide. Because every product launch, every firmware update, and every software release has eliminated another barrier to pro sound. It's no longer another option. It’s the status quo.
2018
Project Wave We joined forces with LEWITT Audio to bring professional sound to creators. This collaboration built the foundation—from signal architecture to anti-distortion technology—for everything Wave would become.
2020
The first Wave Wave:3 and Wave Link launched as one integrated system—microphone and digital mixer. Now streamers could capture professional vocals and take deep control of their audio, without needing expensive, complex hardware.
Stream Deck control Launching day one, the Wave Link plugin for Stream Deck brought mixing into the streaming workflow. Audio control no longer required a dedicated device—it lived right where creators were already working.
Taming distortion Our first microphones introduced Clipguard technology, automatically rerouting hot signals to prevent distortion. It later expanded to interfaces and mixers, making clean audio standard across the Wave lineup.
2021
Treating the room We launched Wave Panels to tackle one of the trickiest problems in audio: room reverb. With dual-layer construction and mess-free mounting, they brought professional sound treatment beyond the studio.
The analog bridge Wave XLR opened our ecosystem to creators who'd already invested in studio gear. Now they could bring their favorite high-end microphone into Wave Link and onto their computer without needing a bulky mixer.
Mounting done right Mic arms weren't new, but no one solution could fit every setup. So we built two: Wave Mic Arm and Wave Mic Arm LP—one tall to clear monitors, one low to preserve sightlines, both compatible with any microphone.
Studio effects, unlocked Wave Link 1.4 brought the most-requested feature yet: VST support. Now creators could apply the same effects used by the pros—EQ, compression, reverb, and countless more—to completely customize their sound.
Beyond the stream Sounding great on stream was one thing—sounding great in Discord or Teams was another. MicrophoneFX closed that gap with a dedicated Wave Link output that sent only your processed mic audio to voice chat.
2022
AI noise removal NVIDIA Broadcast integration brought AI-powered noise removal directly into Wave Link. Now RTX users could filter out keyboard clacking, whirring fans, and other background distractions with a single slider.
The missing piece Wave DX launched as our first dynamic microphone, delivering incredible sound at a fraction of the price of similar-quality mics. It completed our XLR lineup, offering creators a full audio suite at a cost that made sense.
The audio controller Dials and a touch strip made Stream Deck + a natural fit for audio workflows. Creators gained hands-on control over all aspects of their sound—mixing, monitoring, effects, and everything else their setup demanded.
Pretty in pink Wave:3 got the full pink treatment—our first limited-edition colorway, handcrafted entirely in-house. It sold out fast and kicked off something new: the idea that pro audio gear should look as good as it sounds.
2023
Marketplace arrives Before Marketplace, finding VST effects meant endless searching and sketchy downloads. Now creators had a single trusted destination—curated by Elgato and built by the community—with one-click install into Wave Link.
2024
Effects for everyone We took two of the most essential effects in audio—EQ and compression—and rebuilt them from the ground up. Simple on the surface, powerful underneath, they made professional voice tuning accessible to everyone.
Great sound made easy Not everyone needs a full production setup. Wave Neo stripped things back to the essentials—a friendly, plug-and-play microphone designed to make professional audio accessible to more people than ever.
Two become one XLR Dock slotted into the back of Stream Deck + and transformed it from an audio controller into a complete audio station. One device, one USB cable, and no need for a standalone interface taking up desk space.
Building together Wave Link 2.0 was simply too big to tackle alone. So we opened our first major audio beta, giving the community early access to upcoming features and a direct hand in shaping the future of Wave Link.
The ultimate arm Mic Arm LP set the standard for low-profile mounting. Mic Arm Pro raised it even further, with a gas spring design that made repositioning effortless, one-handed, and without a single knob to tighten.
2025
Wave Link 2.0 The next generation of Wave Link made managing audio easier across the board. From revamped app routing to Stream Deck profiles, every improvement was designed for more control with less effort.
Studio sound, anywhere No treated room? No problem. Voice Focus used AI to dramatically improve mic quality with one toggle, launching first in Wave Link 2.0 before expanding to Marketplace as a standalone VST for any microphone.
Dreamscape For years, pro audio gear came in one color. Dreamscape rewrote that, introducing community-voted colorways across the lineup and proving that professional gear could be as expressive as the people using it.
Dual PC, solved Routing audio between two PCs used to mean extra hardware and endless troubleshooting. Wave Cast fixed that—just install on both machines and audio routes between them over your network with ultra-low latency.
Evolving the boom Boom arms were long overdue for a rethink. Wave Mic Arm MK.2 is the result: re-engineered from the ground up for greater flexibility, it adapts to how and where you work instead of the other way around.
2026
Wave Link for everyone Our biggest update ever gave Wave Link a visual routing table, five independent mixes, and multi-mic support. And for the first time, it's free and works with virtually any audio setup—no Elgato hardware required.
The pro in processor At the heart of four new Wave devices was Wave FX Processor, a custom chip built with LEWITT that redefined the signal path from microphone to application. The result: broadcast-ready sound without extra complexity.
A new generation Three of our most popular devices—Wave:3, Wave XLR, and XLR Dock—returned in MK.2 form. Now with Wave FX Processor driving onboard DSP effects, for broadcast-ready sound with zero monitoring latency.
The powerhouse The community wanted a device that could do it all. Wave XLR Pro delivered with dual XLR inputs and five hardware-based mixes in one compact package, ready for everything from podcasting to dual-PC streaming.
Unclippable voice The original Clipguard kept distortion in check. Clipguard 2.0 made it virtually impossible, with stacked ADC architecture and 32-bit float processing creating a layered defense no matter how loud things get.
Effortless effects A consumer audio first, VST Insert technology fed software effects directly into the hardware signal chain. Just select your mic in any app and your effects are already there, with ultra-low monitoring latency.
Voicemod goes native Few audio partners had been with us as long as Voicemod. Now for the first time, their voice changers ran natively inside Wave Link as VST effects on Marketplace—no separate app, no extra routing needed.
Command center More mixes, more inputs, more to manage. Stream Deck + XL brought it all under one surface: 36 keys, 6 dials, and an ultra-wide touch strip for hands-on control over every part of your audio setup and beyond.
