With Camera Hub 2.3, Facecam 4K receives a major firmware update that improves image quality in nearly every area. Colors are more accurate, facial details are sharper, noise reduction is cleaner, and a new Tint Control setting gives you finer control over your white balance.
This guide walks through everything that changed and what it means for your picture.
Firmware 2.49 introduces Tint Control, a new manual setting in Camera Hub. This adds a magenta-to-green adjustment axis that works alongside the existing orange-to-blue white balance slider.
You can find Tint Control in Camera Hub under the camera settings, next to the existing white balance controls. Small adjustments go a long way, so start near the center and nudge in the direction you need.
Noise filtering has been improved at both the 2D and 3D level, producing a cleaner image while preserving more fine detail. Uniform areas like plain walls or solid-colored clothing also render more smoothly, with less color speckling in low-contrast regions.
These improvements apply across all noise reduction presets in Camera Hub. Whether you use Low, Medium, or a custom configuration, the underlying processing delivers a cleaner result.
For a deeper look at the noise reduction settings and when to use each preset, see our guide on How to use Noise Reduction in Camera Hub.
Moving your hands or shifting position produces less smearing on the new firmware. This is especially noticeable during video calls or streams where you're gesturing or adjusting your setup. The camera resolves movement more cleanly, so the image stays sharp even when you're not sitting still.
Color accuracy has improved across the board, with reds and pinks rendering more true to life. Skin tones look more natural in close-ups, and the overall color balance is more consistent across different lighting conditions.
If you use Facecam 4K in HDR mode, dynamic range has improved. Bright and dark areas of the frame show more tonal separation, giving the image a more lifelike look.
Facial details have also been enhanced in both SDR and HDR modes, so your face comes through with more clarity and definition on camera.
We don't stop working on a product after it ships. Our engineering team continues refining image processing, adding features, and improving performance based on real-world use.
This approach isn't limited to cameras. Our capture cards have received similar firmware updates that improved signal handling and added format support well after launch. Facecam 4K follows the same philosophy: the camera you bought keeps getting better.
To get the new firmware, you need Camera Hub 2.3. If you already have Camera Hub installed, open the app and update to the latest version. If you're installing for the first time, download Camera Hub from elgato.com/downloads.
Important: Do not disconnect Facecam 4K during the firmware update.
