Play without limits with Stream Deck Pedal

Last updated:

Born with only one hand Patrick had to learn everyday things simply take longer or need to be organized differently. Over time, though, he developed his own solutions. HIS way of doing things. With Stream Deck Pedal he found his way and his solution for doing what he loves the most: speedruns.

Develop your own solutions

Speedruns are already challenging on their own. You have to keep an enormous number of things in mind, remember them, and coordinate them all together. Leys3r is a master at this and accomplishes all of it with one limitation: "I was born with only one hand, which means many everyday things simply take longer or have to be organized differently. Over time, though, you develop your own solutions and routines that compensate for a lot of it," says Patrick, which is Leys3r's real name. On Twitch, he ranks among the most-watched German-language Super Mario World channels. His community appreciates him for his self-deprecating humor and his authentic, unfiltered style, but also for his incredible skills. Leys3r had a standout moment at the Speedrundale event by Rocket Beans TV with an Elden Ring speedrun, and also featured in a run at the European Speedrunner Assembly, where he was able to present Grand Poo World 3.

But the limitation remained. "I had always been looking for ways to compensate for my missing inputs, and at ZFM, I saw Stream Deck Pedal for the first time and immediately thought: this could work." Stream Deck Pedal is a hands-free control device with three customizable foot pedals, allowing streamers, podcasters, and content creators to trigger actions like scene transitions, muting, or shortcuts, without having to take their hands off the keyboard or mouse, or without needing to use hands at all.

Stream Deck Pedal "replaces" my hand

This lets Leys3r assign certain inputs (like jumping, items, or macros) to his feet, while his hand handles the main controls. "That way I can perform multiple actions at the same time, which is crucial in speedruns. Stream Deck Pedal basically replaces a second hand for me. I can offload important inputs onto it and have significantly more control over the game."

Addressing this space and offering meaningful solutions in an accessibility context is Elgato's goal. "Seeing how our products support people in doing what they love, and perhaps even lowering a barrier or two, that's what drives us," says Julian Fest, VP of Product at Elgato.

The fact that Stream Deck Pedal is listed under Accessibility on Apple's platform underscores this point once again in a meaningful way.
