Elgato Prompter: Pro Teleprompting Made Easy

Elgato Prompter is a compact desktop teleprompter that connects to your PC or Mac. It works with almost any camera, including DSLRs, mirrorless cameras, webcams, and smartphones. It's made for streamers, video creators, and professionals who want to read scripts, monitor chat, or make eye contact on video calls. Most teleprompters need a separate tablet or smartphone to display the script. Prompter has the screen built in. It connects to your computer with a single USB-C cable and shows up just like an external monitor, so you can drag any window onto it. Scripts, Twitch chat, video calls, or anything else on your desktop.

Read scripts. Load your script in Camera Hub and roll it on the display while you record. Read and look into the lens at the same time, stay on track, and spend less time editing afterward.

Monitor Twitch chat. Connect your Twitch channel through Camera Hub and chat appears on the display. Read and respond to viewers without looking away from the camera.

Make eye contact on video calls. Drag your meeting window onto Prompter and the people on the call show up directly behind the lens. You look at them and the camera at the same time, the way you would in person. Real eye contact on video calls is hard to get from a standard webcam, and Prompter is built around solving that.

Prompter supports most camera setups through its included backplates and step-up rings:

• DSLR and mirrorless cameras from Sony, Canon, Nikon, and others, with nine step-up rings (49 to 82 mm) included
• Elgato Facecam 4K, with a dedicated backplate in the box
• Smartphones, camcorders, point-and-shoots, and action cams via the universal bracket

Prompter also handles wide-angle lenses up to 20 mm focal length without vignetting or cropping. You can check whether your camera is compatible before you buy.

If you have Facecam, Facecam MK.2, or Facecam Pro, the universal shroud backplate (also included in the box) works for mounting. For a tighter fit, free 3D-printable backplates are available on Elgato Marketplace.

Camera Hub is the free software that controls Prompter. It runs on PC and Mac, with no subscription and no third-party mobile app required. It has three areas:

• Text mode. Load scripts, format text, organize content into chapters, and manage scroll speed.
• Chat mode. Connect your Twitch channel and customize how chat messages appear on the display.
• Camera controls. Adjust settings like white balance, exposure, and framing for your Elgato webcam, Cam Link, or iPhone camera.

Everything sits in one app on your computer, alongside the camera and the display.

Prompter integrates with Stream Deck through the Camera Hub plugin, free on Elgato Marketplace. The plugin gives you direct control over Prompter without opening Camera Hub or touching your mouse.

Key actions for Prompter include:

• Window to Prompter. Send your active window to Prompter with one tap, ideal for jumping into a meeting or pulling up a script.
• Preview to Prompter. Move your camera preview onto Prompter so you can monitor your framing while you record.
• Prompter Mode. Switch between display, text, or chat mode without opening Camera Hub.
• Prompter Control. Start or stop your script, pause chat, or take a snapshot in real time.
• Prompter Scroll. Speed up or slow down scrolling with a key tap or dial turn.
• Prompter Appearance. Adjust how text appears on the display mid-session.

Stream Deck Pedal works with these actions too, so you can control Prompter hands-free while you're recording or on camera.
