Stay connected while you watch TV: Elgato Tivizen adds Home Network Mode
Munich – July 7, 2011 – Elgato today announced a new “Home Network Mode” feature for the Tivizen Mobile TV Tuner, which enables users to stay connected to the Internet while watching TV. In Home Network Mode, Tivizen can now join an existing Wi-Fi network to transmit the TV signal over to an iPad, iPhone, or computer. What’s more, Tivizen can now also be used as a conventional USB TV tuner by connecting it to a Mac or PC with the included charging cable. This “USB Mode” is especially useful for notebook owners who want to watch TV and surf the Web while connected to a public Wi-Fi network. Of course, Tivizen will continue to create its own hotspot if no home network nor USB connection are available. The new Home Network Mode and USB Mode are included in free software updates for the Tivizen App and for Elgato’s Mac and PC applications, EyeTV 3 and THC.
Easy setup, automatic mode selection
The new Home Network and USB modes can be enabled in Version 1.2 of the Tivizen App which is available immediately. Elgato has also released updated versions of its Mac and PC software applications. Once set up, Tivizen automatically connects to the home network and becomes available to all devices. If the user is travelling and powers on the device where no home network is available, Tivizen creates its own hotspot. When USB Mode is enabled, Tivizen behaves just like a traditional USB tuner stick and is not reachable via Wi-Fi.
The perfect choice at home and on the go
The flexibibility of Tivizen’s connection options makes it a superb all-round DTT (Freeview) TV tuner. Thanks to the free Tivizen app, users can watch, pause, rewind and record live TV on an iPad or iPhone – anywhere. Tivizen also comes with a lithium-ion high-capacity rechargeable battery for over 3.5 hours of live TV on the go.
TV software for Mac and Windows 7 included
Elgato’s Tivizen includes a licence for award-winning EyeTV software so that users can enjoy live, wireless TV on a Mac. EyeTV software enables users to watch, record, and rewind live TV; edit out unwanted content; and export recordings automatically to iTunes to sync with iPod, iPhone, iPad or Apple TV. A licence is also included for THC software, which enables PC users who are running Windows 7 to connect wirelessly to Tivizen. THC software offers Windows 7 users many of the sames features as EyeTV software for Mac.
The Tivizen app is available for iPod touch (4th generation), iPod touch (3rd generation), iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPad 2 and iPad with iOS 4.2 or later. EyeTV requires a Macintosh Computer with an Intel Core Processor and Mac OS X v10.5.8 or newer. THC requires Windows 7 and a 2.0 GHz Intel/AMD CPU or better. Mac and PC platforms require 1 GB RAM. Home Network Mode requires a network interface supporting 802.11g. USB Mode requires a USB 2.0 port.

Tivizen is priced at EUR 149.95/GBP 149.95£ and is available from Elgato at www.elgato.com or most Mac retailers. The Tivizen app is free and is available on the App Store.
