Elgato announces EyeTV 1.7

Free Software Update adds MPEG-4 and Digital Cable Support for HDTV

Macworld Expo/San Francisco, January 11, 2005 – Elgato Systems announced today a major update to their award winning EyeTV software. EyeTV 1.7 is a free update for all owners of EyeTV hardware and third party TV tuners, and is available for download from www.elgato.com.

EyeTV 1.7 includes the following features:

  • MPEG-4 support for EyeTV 200. EyeTV can now capture high-quality recordings with MPEG-4, requiring less space from the hard disk than MPEG-2. MPEG-4 is recognized for it’s streaming ability. EyeTV 200 users can now capture high-quality recordings with MPEG-4, requiring less space from the hard disk than MPEG-2.
  • Comprehensive search and sort of your EyeTV recordings. EyeTV 1.7 makes it easier to manage your library of recordings and improves the user experience when archiving large libraries of recordings.
  • Enhanced DivX export support. EyeTV 1.7 enables users to export their EyeTV recordings into the DivX format.
  • EyeTV 1.7 supports the reception of Clear QAM digital cable with EyeTV 500, the only fully featured high-definition digital TV recorder for the Mac.
