What's new in Turbo.264 version 1.2?

Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard Support

Turbo.264 1.2 is compatible with Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard.

Transport Stream Support

Turbo.264 now supports transcoding entire transport streams, e.g. from set top boxes. Drag the transport stream file onto Turbo.264's main window. Each available video program is added as a separate item. Click Start to encode all video programs at once, or remove individual programs by clicking the item's (X) button.

Tip: If you'd like to change the encoding format for all video programs, hold down the Option key while choosing the encoding format from the popup menu.

Some video programs may contain multiple audio tracks, e.g. additional language or audio commentary tracks. For each item, you can pick the audio track which will be encoded.  To select the audio track for a video program, click the “i” button at the top right corner, and pick the audio track from the popup menu.

Drag and Drop EyeTV Recordings

Drag any EyeTV recording directly from the EyeTV Programs window or from the Finder onto Turbo.264's main window. You can then select the desired Turbo.264 export format preset, including custom presets.

Bug Fixes

Turbo.264 1.2 contains important performance and stability enhancements.

Turbo.264 1.2 works around a problem where Apple TV would reboot while playing back encoded files.

Integration

Turbo.264 installs a QuickTime™ component to enable accelerated exports from any application. In addition, the Turbo.264 application can be controlled via AppleScript.

Elgato is also interested in hearing from 3rd party developers who would like to add support for Turbo.264 to their application. Send your proposal to turbointegration@elgato.com to get started.

Turbo.264 1.2 is a Universal application. It requires:

  • a Macintosh computer with PowerPC G4, PowerPC G5 or Intel Core processor

  • a built-in USB 2.0 port
  • Mac OS X 10.4 or later (Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard recommended with all software and security updates installed)

  • EyeTV 2.4 for accelerated one-click exports to iPod and Apple TV
  • iTunes 7.1.2 (or later)
