* Apple's agreement with AT&T prohibits iPhone apps that provide streaming of live TV over the cellular/3G network.
** Safari, a proprietary Apple application, has access to TV-out and therefore so do Web apps. Third-party iPhone apps do not.
HTTP Live Streaming
The EyeTV software running on your Mac converts live TV to the correct format for streaming to the iPhone, ensuring optimal picture quality.
EyeTV software and both apps use the HTTP streaming standard developed by Apple. This takes advantage of the iPhone’s hardware acceleration to deliver the highest possible playback quality and longer battery life.
Simplified Set-Up with My EyeTV
The EyeTV app can automatically find your Mac when you are on the road if your router supports UPnP or NAT-PMP protocols. Alternatively, you can manually configure your router and/or use a dynamic DNS service.

The look and feel of the iPhone app is first-rate, with white text on a black background, and with subtle color queues throughout. It's a joy to use... I'm delighted with the possibilities here. If I'm traveling, my iPhone will provide full access to my TV-on-Mac setup at home.
